Provides a minimum specification for use by purchasers or specifiers of a fire sprinkler system for residential buildings. Such a system will, with substantial reliability, control a fire occurring in that building so that survival conditions are maintained throughout the building for at least 20 minutes. The standard specifies minimum requirements for the design, material, fabrication, installation, on-going testing and maintenance, and approval of such systems.
